Jeremy Montes
|
Jeremy Montes is known to his friends and classmates as
a serious fighter with a fourth-degree blue belt in jiujitsu. When he was diagnosed with leukemia in December, his classmates and fellow athletes jumped into action to support him in the fight. Soquel High School students launched a sports tournament to raise more money for the cause. Montes' friend and classmate Tyler Ayers-Nusbaum organized the event, with help from Red Cross Club presidents Hanna Hutchison and Lila Villigran. More on Jeremy Story.

In Remembrance -Gregory Melendy
|
Greg Melendy was one of the most inspirational people to ever grace the earth. He touched multitudes of people with his love for life, humor and music. Greg's love of music was expressed through his desire to spread the joy of song. Diagnosed with cancer at age 16, made Greg eligible for a wish from Make-a-Wish. Instead of taking a trip to Disneyland for himself, Greg decided to use his "wish" as an expression of generosity and gratitude and asked "Make a Wish" to donate a grand piano to the music program at Soquel High School. After a long battle with cancer, Greg left his body but shared with us his desire to spread his music, love and laughter.
More about Greg The Greg Melendy Music Scholarship will be awarded each year to a high school senior wishing to continue the study of music in a college, conservatory or through performing arts. The intention of the scholarship is to spread Greg's creativity and love of music to other aspiring musicians for years to come.
