David Cox, SHS Class of 1975, opera singer, actor, director, and producer extraordinaire, passed away just after Christmas after a battle with brain cancer. Several of Dave's high school friends have put together a scholarship in his name and are now taking donations. We wish for the joy that Dave got from performing to live on and lift up others who are just starting out. The scholarship will be awarded to a student who is a leader in choral, music, or drama and will be pursuing a career in one of those fields, and who shows excellence and most of all joy in performing. If you would like to contribute: Sendyour tax-deductible donation by check to:

On February 21st , the Soquel High Varsity Baseball team hosted the first annual alumni game. We had 25 alumni participate in our inaugural game. Graduates from 1978-2014 represented and Bryan Ifland traveled from Rogers, Arkansas to participate. There were plenty of fans in the stands to cheer on both teams. John Ferrara class of 1978 won the hitting derby, 2014 graduate Austin Turnell won for the less than 5 years graduated. The alumni posted the first two runs of the game, holding onto the lead until the bats of the current Soquel High Knights came alive. The alumni had a strong finish loading the bases in the final inning , but were unable to complete the rally. The varsity ended up victorious by beating the alumni 5-2. The afternoon was concluded with a chicken and tri-tip barbeque. The fundraiser was a huge success, thanks to the participating alumni and our sponsors Deluxe Foods, Santana Paving & Fast Eddys Billards. There are plans to make this an annual event!
Players Ken Horton & Barney Neu with former classmates that came to cheer them on.

Letters of Intent- Congratulations! |
Soquel water polo player Max Somple signs with Davis.
Max had his pick of oceanfront colleges when deciding where to play water polo upon graduating from Soquel High this spring, including Santa Barbara, Pepperdine and San Diego. Instead, landlocked Davis landed the Monterey Bay League Gabilan Division MVP with the promise that he could help build something perhaps even more eye-catching:One of the best programs in the nation. Somple signed his letter of intent to play for the Aggies.

NATALIE DIAZ-commits to Dominican University in San Rafael. Natalie picked her school not purely on the basketball program but on the academics and campus itself. She knows she can't play basketball forever and wanted to make sure she got a great education first. Playing basketball on a full scholarship is just the result and a perk of the thousands of hours of practice she has dedicated herself to, to achieve a dream of hers." Click for more
