The Soquel High Fund is seeking
volunteers, golfers, and sponsors for the 10th Annual Soquel High Fund's Golf Tournament on May 2 at DeLaveaga Golf Course. Join Soquel High alumni, friends, and families for an afternoon of golf.  If you don't plan to golf, but are interested in planning, procuring sponsors and/or items for the drawing, working during the tournament, or the evening barbecue ($15 for non-golfers).Please contact Jenni Strecker-Langenberg at  [email protected] or go to SoquelHighFund.org  for more information.

10th ANNUAL GOLF TOURNAMENT& BBQ

DeLaveaga Golf Course

Friday, May 2, 2014

12pm check-in - 1pm Shotgun Start

BBQ Beginning at 5:30

Entry Fee - $150.00 per person

 

Entry Fee includes green fees and cart, sack lunch,contest prizes, and dinner.

The tournament will be a Four Person Scramble and play is limited to 144 players. You may select your own foursome, or we will put one together for you.

 

We will play rain or shine!

Soquel ultrarunner's tale takes surprising twists in Santa Cruz director's film 'Solstice' 

 

Ashley Lindsey Andy Hofman, a Santa Cruz filmmaker, lucked into that discovery when he embarked on finding a pet project to fill a slow period in his work schedule in 2011. He heard a longtime acquaintance, Soquel's Ashley Lindsey, planned to run the Western States 100 ultramarathon later that year. Intrigued, he asked her if he could film it.

Not one to seek out the limelight, Lindsey reluctantly said yes.

Rachel HenryRachel Henry has had a consistent year so far. The Spartan senior utility player has contributed 15 goals on the season and has scored at least one goal in 12 of the 20 games played in 2014.
In Memoriam
ned worthington
Soquel High School teacher Mr. Ned Worthington passed away March 14, 2014. Click for more He had suffered a stroke in February and was at home recovering.The Soquel High community mourns the loss of a teacher who had worked with us for 21 years teaching Social Studies. Over the length of his career Mr. Worthington taught over 4,000 students. A memorial for Ned will be held in mid May. Please visit nedworthington.com for more information

 

Bruce Rhett -Class of 1985

passed away unexpectedly from a tragic auto accident on February 2, 2014.

Bruce excelled at baseball all his life, first as a player and then as a coach. He loved the outdoors, fishing, duck hunting and sports. In the last two years Benicia had become his new home. He loved the quaint downtown and dreamed of opening a business.Bruce was a devoted father, loyal friend and companion. Click for more 

 

Pamela Moran class of 1974Pamela Moran - Class of 1974

Passed away on March 25, 2014. She loved the beach, the ocean, and the California sunshine. She enjoyed traveling the world with her family and friends.She will be remembered for having a bright and cheery personality with a smile and laugh that were contagious. Click for more 

 

   

Jeanette EganClass of 1983
Passed away peacefully on March 13, 2014, following a brief illness.

Jeanette worked for many years at Comerica Bank, and at Beta Technologies an active volunteer for mid-county soccer, she also volunteered at Main Street Elementary School. She loved the outdoors, enjoyed numerous camping adventures, and trips to Hanalei Bay Kauai, with her family. Click for more

KEN THOMAS & MARK McCONNELL HONORED AS  

RECIPIENTS OF 2013 CCS DISTINGUISHED SERVICE AWARD            

Congratulations to Ken Thomas and Mark McConnell who were recognized as recipients of the 2013 Central Coast Section Distinguished Service Award in January, 2014.

Ken Thomas, has been a dedicated educator, coach and school administrator who began his career in education as a history teacher, cross country and track and field coach in 1968 at Soquel High School. He continued teaching history, physical education and health education while coaching through 1985 when he moved into school administration.

Mark McConnell followed in the steps of his high school coach, fellow Distinguished Service Award honoree, Ken Thomas, beginning his career in education as a teacher and coach at Soquel High School in 1979. Mark went on to Stanford University. It was after graduation from Stanford and earning an MBA at UCLA, that Mark came back to Soquel where he has taught Math, coached Cross Country & Track and Field and, for eight years, served as Athletic Director. a " MEMORIAL WALL" to honor all Soquel High Alumni first responders

and military personnel that have lost their lives in service.The exterior wall to the

right of the principal's office has been designated for this honor. If you would like to become involved an be a part of the "MEMORIAL WALL" we look forward to your input, help and contributions.
