Behavior Requirements for Participation in Graduation Activities

It is our desire to have a safe, orderly and dignified close to the school year.

In accordance with established Soquel High practice, students who, during their senior year:

  • Possess, furnish, or are under the influence of alcohol or other drugs at a school-sponsored event,
  • Engage in acts of battery or other violence,
  • Engage in acts of theft or vandalism,
  • Are suspended for any other violation of CA Ed Code 48900, or
  • Have not paid in full any fines for parking violations, textbooks, etc.,
  • Saturday School hours or detention hours

Will not receive their diplomas until all obligation are fulfilled.  After Graduation day, students may clear their accounts (fines & textbook and Saturday School hours) and then pick up their diplomas from Monday, June 15th through Thursday, June 18th from 8:00 to 12 NOON ONLY at the Registrar's Office.

 Go to websites of Colleges and Universities you wish to attend and look for enrollment dates they will vary for each location as well as scholarship information from them.
 Sep - Jun
Take SAT & ACT's - find registration links at the  bottom of the page Click Here - register at least 1 month in advance

Mock SAT & ACT-  may be available - read Home page and Knight Notes for specific dates

 Oct  PSAT- was given to every Junior - check with Counseling office for next year
 Oct 1 - Nov 30  California State University - CalState - all locations - Open Enrollment - see below about ending date
 Nov 1 - Nov 30  University of California- UC system - all locations - Open Enrollment - see below about ending date
Nov Order your cap, gown, announcements and other graduation accessories. The representative will visit Government & Economics classes
Now Scholarships: Current scholarship information and scholarship applications are available in the Counseling Office. SHS Student Scholarship Profile forms, required to receive a local scholarship, can still be returned.
Jan-June Request the registrar to send an official transcript to a college or institution. Official and unofficial transcripts may also be picked up in the counseling office.

Last day to register for University of California and California State University Schools - all locations 11:59pm

 - This date does not change no matter what day of the week it falls on - these are no extensions or exceptions.

April Class rank, valedictorian(s) and salutatorian(s) determined and finalized.
April Inform Counseling Secretary of any awards or scholarships that you want acknowledged at the awards ceremony
April 18 Last day to participate in Running Start. If you are a local Santa Cruz high school senior and have not applied, assessed, and completed your orientation you will not be able to participate in Running Start.
May/June Caps and gowns arrive. Two dates – 1st delivery for regular orders; 2nd delivery for late orders.
May Inform the Counseling Secretary of your final college placement -- where you have been accepted and will be attending.

Place requests for final transcripts to be mailed to colleges. Registrar’s Office closes for the summer on June 13th
Deadline for completing an Adult Educatin crdit class for graduation

May 14 Running Start - early counseling, enrollment, orientation for Cabrillo College (Assessment required) – 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Cabrillo.
May 30 Senior Prom, Seascape Golf Club, Clubhouse Drive , 6:30-11:30 p.m.
May 29 Community Service hours for Saturday School credit must be completed & submitted to the office no tater than May 30th!  No Exceptions!
May 16

Last Saturday School before graduation. All outstanding Saturday School hours must be completed.

June 3 Senior Awards Ceremony, 6:30 p.m. in the multi-purpose room.
June 8 to 11 Final Exams
Jun 11 Graduation practice (mandatory for participation in Commencement) at 1:45 p.m. on the field.
Jun 12 Graduation Ceremony, 12:00 p.m. in the SHS stadium.
